Regarding the Law No. 5549 on Prevention of Laundering Proceeds of Crime.

Dear Member,

In the letter dated 30.05.2025 and numbered 6157, sent to our Chamber from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye,

E-commerce platforms are subject to the status of "liable" within the scope of Law No. 5549 on Prevention of Laundering Proceeds of Crime prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

In this context, to fulfill their obligations arising from this legislation, these e-commerce platforms are obligated to obtain and verify certain information and documents from businesses operating on e-commerce platforms that are your members. Therefore, it is crucial for businesses that will continue to operate on e-commerce platforms to provide the information and documents requested by the e-commerce platforms in full and without delay.

Otherwise, consequences such as interruption of the activities and payment flows of the relevant businesses on the platforms and negative impact on the end consumers may be encountered.

Best regards.
