Regarding the EU's Export Restrictions on Aluminum Exports.

In the letter dated 02.01.2026 and numbered 37, sent to our Chamber from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye,


The official letter regarding "EU Export Restrictions on Aluminum Exports" sent by the General Directorate of International Agreements and European Union of the Ministry of Trade to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey is attached.


The document briefly states that, under the EU Waste Shipments Regulation, restrictions on the export of scrap metal to third countries are foreseen from May 2027, and that a surveillance system was put into operation on July 23, 2025, to monitor trade data related to scrap metal, aluminum, and copper.


The article goes on to detail the recommendation letter submitted to the Commission by the EU-based organization Europe Aluminium.
