In the letter dated 01.08.2024 and numbered 7756, sent to our Chamber from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye,

With the transition of the countries party to the Common Transit Agreement to NCTS Phase 5, the Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) Number will be included in the carrier identification number field in transit declarations under the common transit regime, the validity of the declared EORI number will be checked automatically in the background through the system, and the "EORI Matching Guide" was sent, and it was stated that it is important to match EORI numbers and tax numbers in order to ensure that our carriers do not suffer.

This time, in the letter dated 26.07.2024 and numbered 28324 received from the General Directorate of Customs of the Ministry of Trade, it is stated that the studies regarding our country's transition schedule to NCTS Phase 5 are continuing. In addition, in order to avoid problems regarding the EORI number with the European countries that have already transitioned to Phase 5, as of 01.09.2024, in the transit declarations within the scope of the common transit regime that will depart from our country in the current NCTS application, in the carrier identification number field,

- EORI number for foreign carriers,

- For carrier companies established in our country, tax numbers that have been matched with EORI in the system must be declared.

In this context, it is emphasized in the same article that as of 01.09.2024, transit declaration registration will not be allowed without declaring the EORI number for foreign carriers and the EORI matched tax numbers for carriers resident in our country. Therefore, in order for our carriers not to encounter any problems and not to suffer, it is important for them to complete the tax number and EORI number matching process before 01.09.2024.
